Wild Gift
Wild Gift is a curatorial partnership between Rosie Cooper (artist / curator) and David Lillington (writer / curator).
Wild Gift commissions and presents work by artists who make performance-based art. Wild Gift also works with artists whose work is not always seen in relation to live performance.
Wild Gift's first project (Wild Gift I, 2006) was a festival of performance-based works that featured new works by eight international artists. With this festival, Wild Gift sought to identify a particular trend across the arts: work made by artists whose signature is theatricality, spectacle and artifice, with an utterly serious content.
Wild Gift II: Death and Performance (planned for 2011), forms a study into issues of dying, death, funeral practises and memorials, and will show artists who respond to these themes performatively.
